Tigers ICC
Dhaka, Bangladesh (BBN)- Bangladesh will field a blend of youth and experience at their fifth World Cup.
Speaking of experience, the Tiger’s chances will lie heavily on the shoulders of the solid six- Masrafe, Mushfiq, Shakib, Mahmudullah, Tamim and Rubel Hossain, reports tigercricket.com.
While Masrafe, Tamim, Shakib and Mushfiqur Rahim will be playing in their third World Cup, it would be a seond time for Mahmudullah and Rubel, who had played their first four years ago at home.
Masrafe Mortaza symbolizes courage, aggression, patriotism and passion for cricket in Bangladesh, and he has fought many a battle throughout his 13- year career as a cricketer.
Injured just enough not to make it to the World Cup four years ago, he will be leading the side as captain and the fast bowling spearhead this time round.
Shakib is Bangladesh’s premier sportsman, the number 1 all- rounder in all formats, and also Bangladesh’s highest run- getter in World Cups.
Mushfiqur Rahim is a vital brain in the Bangladesh think-tank, an intelligent batsman and wicket- keeper who had a very successful 2014 with the bat.
After taking center- stage in a memorable win over India in the World Cup 2007, Tamim still awaits such a moment of glory to make his mark in the grandest stage of them all.
Stepping into his third World Cup on the back of injury concerns, he will be expected to take the lead up-front in the batting order and give meaningful starts to the Tigers.
Mahmudullah, the often under- rated all- rounder in the side has been around long enough to be called a veteran in the side in terms of experience.
He has played in the 2011 World Cup at home, and will be looking to better his performances with both bat and ball and make his current form count.
Amid the batting experience comes Rubel Hossain, the one name to be taken next to ‘Mad-Mash’ in the side as the bowling spearhead.
He has put aside his personal- life discomfort and is expected to at least emulate his performances at home in places that are more suited to his aggressive style of bowling.
