Dhaka, Bangladesh (BBN) - One person died as four passenger buses were burned in pre-strike violence in different parts of the capital Dhaka Saturday afternoon.
A passenger was burned to death when pro-strike elements set afire a bus near Khidmah Hospital at the city’s Khilgaon around 2:05pm, police said.
Three other buses were torched near Eden College, Gulistan and Abdullahpur between 1:56pm to 2:34pm (local time), fire brigade officials reportedly confirmed.
The Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) and its allies called a dawn-to-dusk countrywide general strike for Sunday to protest the disappearance of its central leader and ex-MP Ilias Ali and his driver on the night of April 17.
