1 killed in N’ganj municipality polls violence

Narayanganj, Bangladesh (BBN)-A man was killed and 50 injured in clashes between the supporters of Awami League and BNP-backed councillor candidates at Kanchan in Rupganj upazila of Narayanganj Saturday morning.

The deceased is Nirmal, Mohammad Zakaria, additional superintendent of police in Narayanganj, confirmed.

The clash ensued around 10:30am when the supporters of an Awami League-backed councillor candidate allegedly attacked a polling centre during municipality elections at Kanchan in Rupganj upazila of Narayanganj this morning.

On the other hand, a clash between the supporters of two chairman candidates loyal to AL and BNP left over 50 people including women injured at another centre.
