Bandarban, Bangladesh (BBN)-A total of 103 Bangladeshi human trafficking victims return from Myanmar Monday.
The repatriation process was completed through a flag meeting between the Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) and Myanmar Immigration and National Registration department around 10:30am.
With this planned repatriation, all 729 verified so far as Bangladesh Nationals are returning to Bangladesh.
Earlier on five occasions, a total 626 verified Bangladesh Nationals were safely repatriated from Myanmar.
The repatriation process commenced this morning via Ghundum border point in Naikhyongchari upazila of Bandarban District.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs would like to express its sincere thanks to the Myanmar Government, IOM and UNHCR for providing shelter with basic humanitarian sustenance to these rescued people for several months.
The entire repatriation process was overseen by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs maintaining close coordination with the Ministry of Home Affairs, Bangladesh Mission in Myanmar, BGB, local Police authority and local district administration.
The expeditious return of verified Bangladesh Nationals attests the firm commitment of Bangladesh to take responsibility in irregular situation anywhere.
Bangladesh expects Myanmar to also manifest similar spirit by taking back verified Myanmar refugees awaiting return for over a decade in an expedited manner.
