115-member BKMEA delegation off to Japan

Dhaka, Bangladesh (BBN) - A 115-member delegation of Bangladesh Knitwear Manufacturers and Exporters Association (BKMEA) left in Dhaka on Sunday night for Japan to join a three-day `International Fashion Fair (IFF)' to be held in Tokyo.

The delegation, led by BKMEA's Vice-President Mohammad Mansur Ahmed, will join the IFF exhibition from January 25.

The government of Japan has created a big market for Bangladeshi Knitwear products by relaxing GSP facility from three-stage to two-stage.

The Bangladesh pavilion at the IFF is jointly set up by Bangladesh Export Promotion Bureau, Dutch Bangla Bank Limited and Bangladesh Embassy in Tokyo.

Meanwhile, a 15-member high-powered Bangladesh delegation, led by Commerce Minister GM Quadar, left here yesterday for Japan to inaugurate the occasion the exhibition in Tokyo on January 25.

Japan, is one of the major global knitwear markets, is importing the items worth $15billion every year.
