14 more swine flu cases confirmed, total now 213

Dhaka, Bangladesh (BBN)- The government confirmed 14 more cases of the deadly Influenza A (H1N1) virus on Monday, bringing the total cases to 213, health officials confirmed.

"The 14 new cases swine flu were detected on Monday," Head of the country's Institute of Epidemiology, Disease Control and Research (IEDCR) under the Health Ministry Mahmudur Rahman said.

Mr. Rahman, the government spokesperson on swine flu, said the country's hospitals, both in urban and rural areas, have adequate facilities to deal with the Swine Flu cases.

According to officials, the government has strengthened health screenings at 16 entry points into the country and has trained professionals in every district hospital to contain swine flue.

The IEDCR chief earlier advised "not to sneeze openly" and to wash hands properly as protection from the spread of the disease.

The first case of swine flu was identified in Bangladesh on June 18 this year.

The government has urged people not to be panicked about swine flu as it has taken precautionary steps to combat the disease.
