Dhaka, Bangladesh (BBN) - The process of hiring two deputy governors of Bangladesh Bank (BB) will be completed by the end of this week, announced the search committee for appointing DGs at the central bank.
The committee is considering both the current and former executive directors of the Bangladesh Bank (BB) for the posts of Deputy Governors, according to committee members’ sources.
The decision is taken at the second meeting of the committee held at the central bank on Sunday with its convener in the chair.
As part of the process of Appointing two deputy governors of BB, the CVs of both current and former executive directors of the central bank, including those who retired in the last 20 years, have been reviewed.
The committee has also decided that no advertisement will be published in the newspapers in this connection.
Earlier, the finance ministry formed a three-member search committee, led by the former comptroller and auditor general Mohammad Muslim Chowdhury, to appoint deputy governors for the central bank.
Other members of the committee are prominent economist Mustafa Kamal Mujeri and BB Member [board of directors] Md Nazrul Huda.
Earlier on August 07, some employees staged a protest demanding the resignation of the governor, deputy governors, adviser, and the head of the Bangladesh Financial Intelligence Unit (BFIU).
In the backdrop of the protest, two deputy governors, Khurshid Alam and Kazi Sayedur Rahman, resigned on August 12.
Currently, two deputy governors Dr Md Habibur Rahman and Nurun Nahar are serving at the Bangladesh Bank. Both are the former executive directors of the central bank.
