Dhaka, Bangladesh (BBN)-Law enforcers have arrested two persons in connection with their alleged involvement in a robbery at a branch of Bangladesh Commercial Bank in Ashulia, on the outskirts of Dhaka.
The detention was made three days after the rare broad daylight robbery that left eight persons dead.
A gang of robbers equipped with arms and local weapons committed a robbery in the Kathgora branch of the bank on April 21.
Seven people including the bank manager were killed by the robbers during the incident while a robber was beaten dead by the locals.
Habibur Rahman, the superintendent of police in Dhaka district, told the media that the detention was made conducting raids at different points in Tongi of Gazipur last night.
Police also recovered arms and explosives during the raids.
Detail on the raids and arrestees will be revealed during a press briefing scheduled to be held at the media centre of the Dhaka Metropolitan Police later in the day.
Meanwhile, contacted with the officer-in-charge (OC) of Tongi Police Station, he said that the high police officials from Dhaka conducted the raids overnight in the area.
They sought assistance from the Tongi police and the OC provided them support.
Tongi OC said, he did not know anything about the detention.
