Bhola, Bangladesh (BBN)-At least two people were killed when a cyclonic storm Roanu moved towards in Bhola, a south-central district of Bangladesh early Saturday.
Hundreds were injured during the storm.
Several houses were damaged as the cyclone hits around 3:00am.
Volunteers launched campaigns in the coastal areas to alert people to evacuate to safe zones and cyclone shelters that have been prepared.
The cyclonic storm ‘roanu’ (ecp 992 hpa) over westcentral bay and adjoining southwest bay remained practically stationary over the same area (near lat 15.50 n & long 81.50e) and was centred at 06:00 pm (the 19th may 2016) about 1365 kms southwest of chittagong port, 1335 kms southwest of cox’s bazar port, 1185 kms southwest of mongla port and 1215 kms southwest of payra port.
It is likely to intensify further and move in a north-northeasterly direction.
The injured were undergoing on the medical treatment.
