Dhaka, Bangladesh (BBN)- The BNP-led 20-party alliance has called a countrywide dawn-to-dusk strike for Monday protesting arrest of the party leaders including Goyeshwar Chandra Roy and the restrictions on its rally in Gazipur scheduled for Saturday.

BNP acting secretary general Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir announced the shutdown programme after an emergency meeting of the secretaries general of the 20-party combine at BNP chief’s Gulshan office in the capital Dhaka on Saturday afternoon.

The strike that will begin at 6:00am and end at 6:00 pm is also meant for registering protest against the arrest of the alliance leaders and demanding the release of those arrested.
