Dhaka, Bangladesh (BBN)– A 21-member cultural delegation from the Departments of Theatre and Music of the University of Dhaka will go on a goodwill visit to India from August 22-27 this year.
The delegation, to be led by DU Vice Chancellor Professor AAMS Arefin Siddique, will visit India at the invitation of Indian External Affairs Minister SM Krishna, said an Indian High Commission press statement said in Dhaka on Wednesday.
Indian External Affairs Minister SM Krishna, who had inaugurated the Kala Bhaban at the Dhaka University during his recent visit to Bangladesh (from July 6-8), extended the invitation to the students of the Dhaka University who had presented sterling performances of music and theatre on the occasion of his visit to the University.
The cultural delegation will comprise the chairpersons of the Departments of Theatre and Music of the Dhaka University and 18 students.
The cultural delegation is scheduled to present chorus music and a theatre performance -“Komola Ranir Sagordighi” – at the ICCR auditoriums in New Delhi and Kolkata. The group will also travel to the Viswa Bharati University in Shantiniketan for a daylong sightseeing tour.
The Vice Chancellor of Dhaka University is scheduled to meet with the large Bangladeshi student community at Jawaharlal Nehru University in New Delhi and at Viswa Bharati University in Shantiniketan, especially the alumni of the Dhaka University, according to the statement.
“A proposed MoU on Educational Cooperation between the Jawaharlal Nehru University and the Dhaka University is also expected to be discussed during the visit,” it said, adding that the visit is expected to further foster the strong bilateral youth and cultural linkages between the two countries.
