Dhaka, Bangladesh (BBN)-Bangladesh’s stocks extended their losing spell for the seven sessions in a row on Thursday late selling pressure wiped off early gains.
Both the Dhaka Stock Exchange, the prime bourse of Bangladesh and Chittagong Stock Exchange, the port city bourse of the country opened with a positive mood but could not sustain the positive trend at the closing.
The key index of Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) plunged 12.40 points while the port city bourse Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) dipped 12.76 points at the closing.
DHAKA STOCK EXCHANGE:
The prime index of the Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE), settled at 4,573.58 points, shedding 12.40 points or 0.27 per cent, despite opened with a positive note.
The DS30 index, comprising blue chips, lost 3.52 points or 0.20 per cent to finish at 1,729.15 points.
The DSE Shariah Index shed 4.13 points or 0.37 per cent to close at 1,102.69 points.
The turnover rose to BDT 4.05 billion, which was 13.12 percent lower than the previous day’s BDT 3.58 billion.

The losers took a strong lead over the gainers as out of 321 issues traded, 174 closed lower, 99 higher and 48 remained unchanged on the DSE trading floor.
Alltex Industries dominated the turnover chart with shares worth BDT 158 million changing hands followed by Square Pharma, IT Consultants, BD Thai Aluminium and Al-Arafa Bank.
Desh Garment was the day’s best performer, posting a rise of 9.95 per cent while Shurwid Industries was the worst loser, slumping 30.72 per cent.
CHITTAGONG STOCK EXCHANGE:
The port city bourse Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) also closed lower with its Selective Categories Index, CSCX, losing 12.76 points to finish at 8,566.28.
Losers beat gainers as 149 issues closed lower, 77 higher and 26 remained unchanged on the CSE.
The port city bourse traded 13.95 million shares and mutual fund units worth BDT 299 million in turnover.
