Bangladesh’s stocks close mixed trend

Dhaka, Bangladesh (BBN)-Bangladesh’s stocks edged marginally up on Wednesday with increasing turnover as investors went on late hour buying spree.
Both the Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE), the prime bourse of Bangladesh, and Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE), the port city bourse of the country, witnessed negative trend throughout the session and closed in the mixed trend.
The benchmark index of Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) gained 4.13 points while the port city bourse, selective category index of Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) lost 6.14 points at the closing.
DHAKA STOCK EXCHANGE:
After witnessing volatility in the first half of the trading session, the benchmark index of Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE), settled at 4,413.85, gaining 4.13 points or 0.09 per cent.
The DS30 index, comprising blue chips, saw a fractional gain of 0.26 point or 0.02 per cent to finish at 1,670.52 points.
The DSE Shariah Index (DSES) also gained 1.64 points or 0.15 per cent to close at 1,067.64 points.
DSE trading crossed BDT 4.0 billion lvel again and total turnover amounted to BDT 4.28 billion, riding on newly listed Doreen Power, which accounted for 15.69 per cent of the day’s total turnover.
The losers took a modest lead over the gainers as out of 318 issues traded, 150 closed lower, 119 higher and 49 remained unchanged on the DSE trading floor.
Doreen Power Generations and Systems dominated the turnover chart with shares worth BDT 671 million changing hands, followed by Keya Cosmetics, Bangladesh Steel Re-rolling Mills, IBN Sina and Aman Feed.
Keya Cosmetics was also the day’s best performer, posting a rise of 9.59 per cent, while Mutual Trust Bank was the worst loser, slumping by 15.47 per cent following its price adjustment after record date.
CHITTAGONG STOCK EXCHANGE:
However, the port city bourse Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) closed in the red for the second day in a row, with its Selective Categories Index, CSCX, falling 6.14 points to 8,247.49 points.
Losers beat gainers as 120 issues closed lower, 89 closed higher and 34 remained unchanged on the CSE.
The port city bourse traded 11.53 million shares and mutual fund units worth BDT above BDT 418 million in turnover.
