3 drown in Bangladesh trawler capsize

Sunamganj, Bangladesh (BBN)-Three labourers drowned as a sand-laden trawler capsized in Surma river in Sunamganj, a north-eastern district of Bangladesh, early Monday.

The sand-laden trawler carrying six labourers started for Weskhali from Dhopazan area of Sadar upazila around 4:00am, local police said.

Nearly 30 minutes after when the trawler reached Mollikpur area, it suddenly capsized in the river due to strong current amid heavy rainfall, police added.

Though three labourers managed to swim ashore, the three others got drowned.

On information, a rescue team rushed to the spot and fished out the three bodies after a frantic search.
