New Delhi, India (BBN)– A two-member special team of the National Security Guard (NSG) was sent to Bangladesh to analyse the two terror attacks in the past one week.
The team will analyse the attacks at an Eid prayer gathering in Kishoreganj district on Thursday, and at a high-end restaurant in Dhaka last week, reports the Hindu.
Seven terrorists barged into Holey Artisan Bakery restaurant in Gulshan diplomatic area of Dhaka and killed 22 persons, including two policemen. An Indian girl was also killed in the attack of which target the Bangladesh government said were “foreigners.”
The visit by the NSG team comes after the special forces establishment in Bangladesh approved India’s request that the NSG be allowed to visit the sites of the attacks for a first-hand understanding of the situation, according to the newspaper report.
The team, which includes a Special Ranger Group commando, will conduct post-blast analysis and counter-terror operations.
The NSG wanted to study the situation because getting an insight into the attacks would enhance counter-terror cooperation between the two countries and add value to the operations knowledge of the elite commando Force.
The NSG is the counter-terror and counter-hijack commando force raised in 1984. An NSG team travelled to Nairobi, Kenya, in 2013 to study the Westgate shopping mall siege, in which over 60 people were killed.
