Dhaka, Bangladesh (BBN)- The Bangladesh Textile Mills Association (BTMA) has expressed its grave concern over the recent terror attacks saying that such attacks may have adverse impact on the apparel and clothing sector.
The economy of Bangladesh is driven by the garment and textile sector and the BTMA feared that the Gulshan attack would put a negative impact on the sector as the victims in the incident were development projects staff and foreign buyers of Bangladeshi textile and garments.
Condemning the attacks, the BTMA urged the government to resist the anti-state activities with a heavy hand to uphold the secular image and economic advancement of country.
Country’s image has faced question abroad due to the attacks and killings at Gulshan in the capital Dhaka and Sholakia under Kishoreganj district, the trade body said.
The BTMA also expressed its deep condolences for the families of the Gulshan and Sholakia victims.
They also demanded exemplary punishment for those who are involved in this heinous act.
