Dhaka, Bangladesh (BBN) – Bangladesh’s Stocks ended higher on Saturday, after remaining flat in the previous session, as investors took position on some large-cap stocks ahead of corporate declaration.
Both bourses – the premier bourse Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) and the port city bourse Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) opened with a positive note and the upward trend sustained till end of the session, eventually ended marginally higher.
The key index of the DSE advanced 16.82 points, while the Selective Category Index of port city bourse gained 25.22 points at the end of the four hours trading session. Bangladesh stocks, DSE, CSE
Bangladesh’s stocks edge higher
Dhaka, Bangladesh (BBN) – Bangladesh’s Stocks ended higher on Saturday, after remaining flat in the previous session, as investors took position on some large-cap stocks ahead of corporate declaration.
Both bourses – the premier bourse Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) and the port city bourse Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) opened with a positive note and the upward trend sustained till end of the session, eventually ended marginally higher.
The key index of the DSE advanced 16.82 points, while the Selective Category Index of port city bourse gained 25.22 points at the end of the four hours trading session.
DHAKA STOCK EXCHANGE:
DSEX, the benchmark index of the Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE), finished at 4,554.74, advancing 16.82 points of 0.37 percent.
The two other indices edged higher. The DS30 index, comprising blue chips, advanced 4.92 points or 0.28 percent to settle at 1,783.62 points.
The DSE Shariah Index (DSES) also gained 4.07 points or 0.36 percent to close at 1,120.82 points.
Turnover, the important indicator of the market, however fell to BDT 3.71 billion which was 17.16 percent lower than the previous day’s value of BDT 4.50 billion.
The gainers took a modest lead over the losers as out of 323 issues traded, 146 closed higher, 122 lower and 55 remained unchanged on the DSE trading floor.
ACME Laboratories dominated the turnover chart for the second day with shares worth over BDT 269 million changing hands, followed by Shahjibazar Power Company, MJL Bangladesh, BSRM and Islami Bank.
Aramit the day’s best performer, posting a gain of 7.35 percent, while SEML Lecture Equity Management Fund was the worst loser, plunging by 8.69 percent.
CHITTAGONG STOCK EXCHANGE:
The port city bourse Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) closed higher with its Selective Categories Index- CSCX – advancing 25.22 points to finish at 8,502.75 points.
Gainers beat losers 109 to 96, with 45 issues remaining unchanged on the port city bourse that traded 6.52 million shares and mutual fund units with a value of BDT 355 million.
