Dhaka, Bangladesh (BBN)– The final result of the 31st Bangladesh Civil Service (BCS) examination was published on Sunday.
Bangladesh Public Service Commission (PSC) has recommended appointment of 2,072 out of 5,489 candidates who overcame the three-step hurdle.
The PSC made the recommendations for appointment of only 2,072 candidates to various cadres due to lack of vacant posts. 
All the successful candidates cannot be given cadre posts due to lack of vacancies, a PSC press statement said.
Efforts will be taken to appoint the remaining successful candidates to 1st class non-cadre posts as per the non-cadre appointment rules, according to the statement.
It, however, added, “No assurance of appointment can be given.”
Meanwhile, the result of BCS (forest) was not published as a case was pending with the court in this regard.
Besides, the results of 58 candidates who passed the written test and viva voce have been put on hold due to wrong information or administrative reason.
A total of 164,167 candidates applied for the BCS examination, and 6,884 of them were called for interview after they passed the preliminary and written tests. Some 6,500 took part in the interview held from February 6 to April 20 this year.
The results will be available at the official website of PSC http://www.bpsc.gov.bd/public/documents/20120708192027.pdf. The results can also be known over mobile phone by using Teletalk Bangladesh Limited. 
To get the results, one will have to send an SMS to 16222 after typing BCS 31 Applicant’s Registration No.
