37 companies win ICAB awards

Dhaka, Bangladesh (BBN) - The 11th ICAB National Award giving ceremony for 'Best Published Accounts and Reports 2010' was held in the capital Dhaka on Tuesday.

37 listed companies and NGOs/MFIs received the prestigious award in seven different categories, a press statement.

The Institution of Chartered Accountants of Bangladesh (ICAB), the regulatory body of the Accounting Profession in the country, organized the occasion.

In 'banks subject to prudential supervision' category, Prime Bank Limited received the first prize, while Bank Asia got the second position. Islami Bank Bangladesh Limited and BRAC Bank Limited obtained the third position jointly. Other nine banks received the 'Certificate of Merit' in the category.

In 'non-banking entities' category, IDLC Finance Limited received the first prize, while Prime Finance and Investment Limited and LankaBangla Finance Limited received second and third prizes respectively. Three other companies received Certificate of Merit in the category.

In 'insurance companies' category, Reliance Insurance Limited and Green Delta Insurance Company Limited received the first and second prizes respectively.

In 'manufacturing' category, RAK Ceramics (Bangladesh) Limited got the first position, while Summit Power Limited and GlaxoSmithKline Bangladesh Limited got the second and third position respectively. Three other companies received the Certificate of Merit in the same category.

In 'Communication and IT' category, Grameenphone Limited received the first prize. It is the only company who received the award in the category.

In 'non-government organization' category, Sajida Foundation got the first position, while BRAC got the second position. BURO Bangladesh and Ghashful jointly received the third prizes.

In 'public sector entities' category, Agrani Bank Limited got the first position. Rupali Bank Limited and Investment Corporation of Bangladesh (ICB) got the second and third position respectively.

Commerce Minister Mohammad Faruk Khan attended the prize giving ceremony as the chief guest, while Securities and Exchange Commission Chairman M Khairul Hossain was present as the special guest.
