3G auction September 2

Dhaka, Bangladesh (BBN): Telecom regulator resets September 2 for holding auction for 3G (third generation) mobile phone service.

The revised schedule of the 3G auction will be approved at the commission meeting on Monday, said a top official of the Bangladesh Telecommunication Regulatory Commission (BTRC).

Behind the reschedule of the date, he mentioned mainly two reasons–the earlier auction date (July 31) is just before Eid-ul-Fitr and consultant appointment for auction process yet to be completed.

As the third time, the authority invited Expression of Interest (EoI) from individual local consultant for the auction management of 3G cellular phone service licence in Bangladesh. Total process of the appointment will be completed by July 15, as per the recent proposal.
