Depreciating mode of Bangladesh Taka continues at closing

Dhaka, Bangladesh (BBN) – The depreciating mode of Bangladesh Taka (BDT) against the US dollar continued following higher demand for the greenback in the inter-bank foreign exchange market on Tuesday.
The exchange rate of the BDT against the US dollar was quoted at maximum BDT 80.61- BDT 80.62 at the evening transactions.
In the opening trading, the exchange rate of the local currency was also quoted at maximum BDT 80.62, gaining two paisa more from the previous working level.
“The exchange rate of US dollar against local currency increased due to higher demand for the greenback in the forex market,” a senior treasury official of a leading private commercial bank explained to the BBN Tuesday evening.
From the last Tuesday to Monday, the local currency was quoted at maximum BDT 80.60.
Bangladesh foreign exchange market remained closed on Friday and Saturday as those were weekend in the country.
