Gaibandha, Bangladesh (BBN) – At least five people were killed and sixteen others injured when a bus plunged into a roadside ditch in Gaibandha, a northern district of Bangladesh, early Sunday.

The accident took place around 3.00am when a Dhaka-bound bus turned turtle and fell into a ditch while overtaking a truck on Dhaka-Rangpur Highway in Gobindaganj upazila at Jumarghar area, left four passengers dead on the spot.
Seventeen of them also sustained injuries in the accident, police added.
They were taken to the Gobindaganj Upazila Health Complex where one succumbed to injuries.
However, the driver and helper of the truck managed to flee immediately after the accident.
