5 killed in Bangladesh lightning strike

Naogaon, Bangladesh (BBN)-Five people were killed and 30 injured as lightning struck in Mahadevpur upazila of Naogaon, a northern district of Bangladesh, Friday morning.

The identity of the deceased could not be known immediately.

The lightning struck the victims when they took shelter under a makeshift shed at a paddy field in Saraswatipur Dhanerhat area of the upazila during a heavy rainfall around 7:00am, local police said.

All the five died on the spot while local whisked off the injured to different hospitals.
