5 to die for killing university student in Bangladesh

Dhaka, Bangladesh (BBN)-A Bangladesh court has awarded death penalty to five fugitive persons for killing a university student in 2012.
The court also sentenced six persons to life term imprisonment for their involvement with the killing of Zubair Ahmed, an honours final year student of English department, at Jahangirnagar University in Savar, the outskirts of Dhaka.
A speedy trial tribunal in Dhaka pronounced the verdict on Sunday.
The convicts are the activists of Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL), student wing of ruling Awami League.
Zubair was tortured and stabbed allegedly by some BCL men on January 8 in 2012.
He succumbed to his injuries at a hospital the next day.
