Dhaka, Bangladesh (BBN)-The home ministry of Bangladesh on Tuesday withdrew five top administrators of Narayanganj district over abduction of seven people.

A total of seven people including Narayanganj Panel Mayor Nazrul Islam and Advocate Chandan Kuman were abducted on Sunday from Narayanganj, nearly 25 kilometers away from Dhaka, the capital of Bangladesh.

The top officials who are withdrawn are: Narayanganj District Administrator Monoj Kanti Baral, Superintendent of Police in Narayangjanj Syed Nurul Islam, Commanding Officer of Rapid Action Battalion (Rab)-11 Lt Col Tareque Sayeed Mahmud, Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Fatullah Police Station Akter Hossain and Siddhirganj OC Abdul Matin.

Nazrul Islam, councillor of ward-2 of Narayanganj City Corporation, and his four aides -- Tajul, Swapan, Liton and Jahangir -- were kidnapped from Adalatpara around 1:45pm Sunday.

They were leaving the court area after Nazrul, former general secretary of Narayanganj Chhatra League, got bail in a case, said Nazrul's wife Selina Islam.

They were in Nazrul's private car when abducted. Police found the car at Rajendrapur in Gazipur around 9:00pm on Sunday, but have yet to rescue the victims.

Around the time the five were kidnapped, senior lawyer Chandan Sarkar and his driver Ibrahim were abducted from the court area, family members said.

Police recovered Chandan's car from the capital's Gulshan around 10:00pm Monday.

Selina claimed her husband and four of his aides were abducted by Rab members.
