Bangladesh’s stocks open positive Monday

Dhaka, Bangladesh (BBN)- Bangladesh’s stocks witnessed positive trend in early hour of trading on Monday, the opening day after five days Eid vacation.

However, the presence of the investors is thin on the trading floor as many investors are yet to resume businesses in the capital Dhaka after enjoying Eid holidays in rural areas.

Trading and official activities on the bourses remained closed from June 13 to June 17 on the occasion of the Eid-ul-Fitr, the biggest religious festival of the Muslims including weekly and special holidays.

The trading on the Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) and the Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) started at 10:30 am and continued till 2:30 pm.

Following the previous day’s upward movement, the DSE and the CSE opened higher but turnover remains low.

Within first 30 minutes of trading, the key index of the country’s prime bourse advanced 6.74 points while the CSE All Share Price Index (CASPI) of port city’s bourse gained 7.24 points at 10:45am when the report was filed.

DHAKA STOCK EXCHANGE
DSEX, the prime index of the DSE, went up by 6.74 points or 0.12 percent to reach at 5,365 points at 10:45am.

The DS30 index, comprising blue chips, advanced 5.30 points to reach at 1963 points.

The DSE Shariah Index (DSES) also gained 3.30 points to reach at 1,241 points till then.

Turnover, the important indicator of the market, stood at BDT 418 million when the report was filed at 10:30am.
Of the issues traded till then, 94 advanced, 37 declined and 43 remained unchanged.

Alif Industries was the most traded stocks till then with shares worth Tk 70 million changing hands, closely followed by Berger Paints BDT 40 million, Monno Ceramic Industries BDT 36 million, Usmania Glass BDT 32 million and Pharma Aids BDT 31 million.

CHITTAGONG STOCK EXCHANGE
The port city’s bourse – the Chittagong Stock Exchange – (CSE) also saw positive trend till then with CSE All Share Price Index- CASPI-advancing 7.24 points to stand at 16,512, also at 10:30am.

The Selective Category Index – CSCX –also gained 4.50 points to stand at 9,985 points till then.

Of the issues traded till then, 8 gained, 6 declined and no issues remained unchanged with BDT 2.0 million in turnover.
