Dhaka, Bangladesh (BBN)– Rajdhani Unnayan Kartripakkha (RAJUK) has announced names of 520 lucky plot winners under its Jhilmil Residential Area project through holding lottery.
The winners were selected through lottery system. The lottery was held at Osmani Memorial Auditorium in the capital Dhaka on Wednesday with the assistance of some experts from Bangladesh University of Engineering Technology (BUET).
The lottery result is available on Rajuk’s website www.rajukdhaka.gov.bd/rajuk/web/home<http://www.rajukdhaka.gov.bd/rajuk/web/home>
The allotment of the rest 570 plots will be finalized through lottery and negotiation, RAJUK Chairman Nurul Huda told reporters after announcing the names of the plot winners.
A total of 19,358 applicants were qualified for the lottery for five-katha and three-katha plots — 37 candidates contesting for each plot, the RAJUK officials said adding that handover of the plots is expected to be completed in three years.
All plots, other than the reserved 10 per cent, will be distributed amongst five categories of professionals—lawyers, engineers, doctors, agriculturists and journalists—over the next 10 days.
They also informed that lawmakers, state ministers, ministers, judges, speakers, and deputy speakers will qualify directly for the plots.

In the first phase, RAJUK allotted plots under nine categories.
Of the total plots, 100 have been allotted for remittance earners, 120 for businessmen and industrialists, 100 for private job holders, 20 for private teachers, 20 for other private job holders, 20 for personalities of art/literature and sports, 10 for families of those who have the title of freedom fighter, 10 for the families of martyred freedom fighters, 10 for injured freedom fighters, 20 for freedom fighters’ families, 50 for government officials and 40 for officials and employees of autonomous bodies.

The city development authorities started application procedure for allotment under different categories of the scheme in June last year and accepted submissions until October 2011.
Speaking as the chief guest on the occasion, State Minister for Housing and Public Works Abdul Mannan said the government has planned to build four sub-towns around the capital to reduce the population pressure on the overpopulated city.
He said RAJUK will build 100,000 flats in those sub-towns in three categories. The sub-cities are Uttara, Jhilmil, Purbachal and Dohar where people from middle and lower income groups will be prioritised.
The minister said security money of the applicants who did not get plots in the project will be returned to their respected bank accounts within seven days.
Jhilmil Residential Area project is located in Keraniganj, 1.50 kilometres away from Bangladesh-China Friendship Bridge at Postogola in Dhaka.
