Gazipur, Bangladesh (BBN)-At least six prisoners were killed in a road accident in Gazipur, a central district of Bangladesh, Monday afternoon.
Eleven people including four police constables were also sustained injuries in the accident that occurred around 4:30pm in Porabari area of Joydevpur upazila in Gazipur, Khandakar Rezaul Hasan, officer-in-charge (OC) of Joydevpur Police Station, told the BBN.
The accident occurred when a covered van hit a prisoners’ van and run, the OC added.
Of the injured, the condition of four constables was stated to be critical, OC Hasan added.
The prisoners, accused in different criminal cases, were taken to the Gazipur court from Sreepur Police Station.
The injured were getting treatment at local hospitals.
