Dhaka, Bangladesh (BBN)-Six people, including a mother and her 2-year old son, were killed in separate incidents of lightning strikes during storms in Chapainawabganj and Sunamganj districts of Bangladesh on Sunday and Monday.

The storm which lashed different areas in Shibganj and Nachole upazilas of Chapainawabganj and Bishombhorpur and Dowarabazar upazilas of Sunamganj also left the trail of destruction.

The lightning occurred in Chapainawabganj Sunday night while in Sunamganj Monday morning.

CHAPAINAWABGANJ

A thunderbolt hit a 10-year old girl Razia Sultana around 8:30pm when she was collecting mangoes during the storm, leaving her dead on the spot.

Sixteen-year old Babu died on the spot when a thunderbolt hit him in time of collecting mangoes during the storm at Dhorbona village in Shibganj upazila.

Fatema Begum, 55, was also struck by lightning during the storm and died instantly.

SUNAMGANJ

Parvin Akhter, 30, and her son Amran, 2, were killed when lightning struck them in their courtyard at Amgora village in Bishombhorpur upazila during a storm around 8:30am Monday.

Nazma Begum, 30, wife of Lakshmipur village in Dowarabazar upazila was killed instantly as lightning struck her while she was working in her courtyard.
