62kg gold, currencies seized in Bangladesh capital

Dhaka, Bangladesh (BBN)- Customs Intelligence officials and detectives in a joint drive seized 62kg gold, BDT 40 million and Saudi riyals worth BDT 1.4 million from a house at Purana Paltan in the capital Dhaka on Thursday.

Tipped off, they launched the drive in the apartment and seized several sacks and luggage full of foreign currencies and several hundreds gold bars.

Deputy Director of Directorate of Customs Intelligence and Investigation Mostafizur Rahman said they raided the apartment on the 6th floor of a multi-storey building at 29/1 Purana Paltan after 5:00 pm.

They recovered several sacks of foreign currencies and several hundred gold bars searching the apartment of Mohammad Ali, a trader.
