Dhaka, Bangladesh (BBN) – A total of 83.71 percent students passed in the Junior School Certificate (JSC) and Junior Dakhil Certificate (JDC) examinations this year, according to reports.

Of the total 1799,947 students, who appeared in the JSC and JDC exams, 1506,783 have come out successful.

The pass rate in JSC examinations is 82.67 percent and JDC examinations 88.71. The rates were 71.34 and 81.03 percent respectively in 2010.

A total of 30,897 students under eight general education boards and one madrasa board scored the highest GPA-5 (grade point average) this year. Of them 29,883 are school students while the remaining 1,014 madrasa students.

Education Minister Nurul Islam Nahid handed over a copy of the results to Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina around 1:00pm.

The education minister will formally announce the results at his ministry at 3:00pm.

The results will be available on www.educationboardresults.gov.bd from 4:30pm.

The candidates may also have the results through SMS (Short Code-16222) to Teletalk mobile phone operator.

The JSC and JDC exams started on November 1 this year with more than 1.8 million Class-VIII students of schools and madrasas registering to take exams. The examinations ended on November 21.
