GP becomes day’s top turnover leader

Dhaka, Bangladesh (BBN)-GrameenPhone (GP) dominated the day’s top turnover chart for the fourth consecutive trading sessions following its positive first quarter earnings news.

It’s first quarter profit after tax up rose by 13.66 percent with shares worth BDT 179.75 million changing hands during the trading session on Sunday.

As per un-audited quarterly accounts for the 1st quarter ended on 31st March 2014 (Jan’14 to March’14), the company has reported profit after tax of BDT 5,160.07 million with EPS of Tk 3.82 as against consolidated profit after tax (excluding non-controlling interest) of BDT 4,539.58 million and consolidated EPS of Tk. 3.36 for the same period of the previous year, revealed on May 6, 2014.

After GP, the other top turnover leaders were Heidelberg Cement worth BDT 170.03 million, Matin Spinning BDT 153.23 million, Emerald Oil BDT 131.23 million, BSCCL BDT 118.97 million, Orion Pharma BDT 118.15 million, Meghna Petroleum BDT 106.60 million, Eastern Housing BDT 92.90 million, Lafagre Surma Cement BDT 92.85 million and Padma Oil BDT 87.25 million worth shares changing hands during the day’s session.
