Bangladesh Speaker to meet Modi after oath

Dhaka, Bangladesh (BBN)- Bangladesh Parliament Speaker Shirin Sharmin Chaudhary will hold a meeting with Indian Prime Minister-elect Narendra Modi one day after his swearing-in ceremony in India.

She is also scheduled to meet India’s President Pranab Mukherjee.

The Speaker reached New Delhi Sunday to attend the swearing-in ceremony of Modi as per his invitation.

Prime minister-designate Narendra Modi in a first of kind has invited all the heads of State from SAARC nations including Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina to attend his swearing-in ceremony on May 26.

As Hasina has left Dhaka for Tokyo Saturday night on an official visit that will run through to May 28, Chaudhary will grace the swearing-in ceremony.

Modi is scheduled to take oath on Monday.

Bharatiya Jatiya Party’s candidate Modi won a landslide victory in the nine-tier election of India on May 16.

Chaudhury will return on the May 28.
