Bangladesh Speaker holds talks with Modi

Dhaka, Bangladesh (BBN)-Bangladesh Speaker Shirin Sharmin Chaudhury held bilateral discussions with newly inducted Prime Minister of India Narendra Modi Tuesday.

The scheduled meeting began at 1:26pm (IndianTime) at Hyderabad House, a day after Modi took oath as Indian prime minister in New Delhi, reports Zee News.

New Foreign Minister of India Sushma Swaraj was with Modi during his discussion with Chaudhury.

She is also scheduled to meet Indian President Pranab Mukherjee around 5:00pm.

The Speaker reached New Delhi Sunday to attend the swearing-in ceremony of Modi as per his invitation.

Prime minister-designate Narendra Modi in a first of kind had invited all the heads of State from SAARC nations including Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina to attend his swearing-in ceremony which was held on May 26.

As Hasina has left Dhaka for Tokyo Saturday night on an official visit that will run through to May 28, Chaudhary graced the swearing-in ceremony.

Chaudhury will return home on May 28.
