Dhaka, Bangladesh (BBN)-The cabinet in principle approved on Monday the draft of a law which will regulate the activities of the non-government organisation (NGO) receiving foreign contributions.
The Foreign Contributions (voluntary activities) Regulation Act 2014 will control the activities of the NGOs’ receiving foreign funds.
The approval was given in a regular cabinet meeting held at the Bangladesh Secretariat with Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina in the chair.
“It will be a comprehensive and wide legal instrument for giving support and regulation of the NGO activities,” M Musharraf Hossain Bhuiyan, the cabinet secretary, briefed reporters after the meeting.
NGO's are working for socio-economic development of the country alongside the government.
The new law will ensure NGO partnership for sustainable development, he said.
