Jalpaiguri, India (BBN)-A new road connecting Siliguri in West Bengal with neighbouring countries Bangladesh, Bhutan and Nepal will be constructed at a cost of Rs 1,400 crore, Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee said Monday.
"We will be developing a new road connecting Siliguri with Bangladesh, Nepal and Bhutan. This will cost Rs 1,400 crore," Banerjee told reporters after concluding an official meeting at the north Bengal secretariat 'Utarkanya' in Jalpaiguri district, reports Business Standard.
She also announced plans to set up a new zoo at Garchumuk deer park in Bengal's Howrah district.
Banerjee reiterated her government's commitment to prevent any kind of divisive politics in the state.
"Bengal is a land of communal harmony. We will not allow any divisive politics in the state," she said.
