Baul Abdul Karim Shah dies at 90

Kushtia, Bangladesh (BBN)-Ekushey Padak winner Baul Abdul Karim Shah passes away at his Kushtia residence Tuesday morning. He was 90.

He breathed his last around 8:00am at his at his Chourash Kenalpara house, on the outskirts of the district town.

Shah was suffering from Asthma for long.

Shah was the first Baul to receive the Ekushey Padak in 2011 for his contribution in folk songs.

The veteran singer was admitted to Kushtia Medical College Hospital on April 24 after he had fallen sick.

Later, he was shifted to Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) on June 1 for better treatment.

Shah was released from DMCH on Saturday and went back to Kushtia.
