Last updated: June 17, 2014

Chittagong, Bangladesh (BBN)-The authorities of the Chittagong University of Engineering and Technology (Cuet) closed the university Tuesday for an indefinite period following a factional clash between two groups of the Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL) activists.

The decision was made during an emergency meeting held by the university authorities to prevent further violence.

The male students have been asked to leave their dormitories by 12noon Tuesday while the female students have to leave their hall by 5:00pm.

Two factional groups of BCL, the student wing of ruling Awami League, clashed Monday night following establishing supremacy over the campus, leaving Shamimur Talha, joint convener of Cuet unit of BCL, severely injured.
