Deal inked with Chinese firm for Padma bridge

Dhaka, Bangladesh (BBN)-Bangladesh signed a contract with a Chinese company for constructing the Padma Bridge on Tuesday.

Chinese construction company China Major Bridge Engineering Limited will construct around 6.15-kilometre main part of the bridge.

The estimated cost of the bridge will be Tk12,133.39 crore which is Tk3,006.22 crore more than the earlier cost.

According to the deal, the construction of the bridge will end by 2018 starting from November this year.

The 48-month contract has been signed between the director of Padma Bridge Multipurpose Project Shafiqul Islam and Chairman of the Chinese firm Lieu Ziming at Ruposhi Bangla hotel in Dhaka at 7:30pm.
