Dhaka, Bangladesh (BBN) - The first conference of the Bangladesh Economists’ Forum (BEF) is being started in the capital Dhaka on Saturday morning aiming to set future development strategy for Bangladesh.
Professor Michael Lipton of the United Kingdom, an old friend of Bangladesh, is delivering his keynote lectures at the Bangladesh Economists’ Forum’s first conference.
More than 500 economists, researchers, experts, policymakers and journalists are taking part of the conference to discuss a series of issues relating to growth, macro and financial policies, fiscal policy and capital markets, trade, aid and infrastructure, poverty reduction, human development, sustainable development and public policy-making and institutions, according to the organisers.
10: 40 am: Finance Minister Abul Maal Abdul Muhith started delivering his speech at the conference after presenting keynote lectures delivered by Professor Michael Lipton of the United Kingdom, an old friend of Bangladesh.
11:00 am: Professor Rehman Sobhan, Chairman of the Centre for Policy Dialogue (CPD), started delivering his remarks as chairman of the opening ceremony of the conference.
11:15 am: concluded the opening session.
