Former Finance Minister Saifur Rahman killed in road crash

Dhaka, Bangladesh (BBN) - Former finance minister M Saifur Rahman was killed in a road accident on the Dhaka-Sylhet highway in Brahmanbaria on Saturday.

The BNP leader, Saifur Rahman, died on the spot after a microbus carrying him fell into a water-filled roadside ditch at Khairala in Ashuganj at 2:30pm (local time) as its driver lost control over the steering while trying to save a cow, according to reports.

Several thousands of people, including local leaders of different political parties, thronged the hospital hearing the death news of Saifur Rahman, The Daily Stat, a local newspaper, reported.
