Jewelry shop looted in Dhaka during Eid vacation

Dhaka, Bangladesh (BBN)- A jewelry shop was looted by breaking its wall at Gulshan Plaza Market in Dhaka on Monday night, police said.

The staff of Nur Jewelry, owned by Nazir Ahmed Bhuiyan, closed the shop on Sunday night after shopping binge ahead of Eid-ul-Fitr and went for Monday’s Eid festival.

The shop owner came to know about the incident when the shop staffs came on Tuesday morning to open the shop, the police added.

The shop owner claimed that some 1,585 tolas of gold jewelries worth about around BDT 48.60 million were looted in the break-in.

Police were investigating the incident. CID officials also visited the scene.
