Islamabad, Pakistan (BBN)-State Department Spokesperson Marie Harf has stated that India and Pakistan both are vital to US strategic interests.
During weekly press briefing on Friday, the spokesperson said that President Barak Obama’s visit to India was very important, reports Dunya Tv.
“We believe that India should have good relationships with its neighbors as well and take steps to improve those relationships,” she added.
To a question regarding terrorism issue, Marie Harf said that al-Qaida had been allowed to flourish in Afghanistan and Pakistan in the past but now the terrorism has become much more diffuse as it has moved to places like ISIL, Boko Haram, Al-Shabaab, AQAP, and tragically, seen in Europe recently as well.
She said that here are a number of threats to the U.S. Homeland and al-Qaida core is still a significant group that has capabilities.
