Dhaka, Bangladesh (BBN)-The BNP-led 20-party alliance has extended its ongoing general strike till 6:00am Friday in Bangladesh.
The fresh political programme was announced when the country has been experiencing a 72-hour shutdown since 6:00am February 15.
The strike was extended Tuesday afternoon demanding immediate and unconditional release of party leaders and activists.
Salahuddin Ahmed, the joint secretary general of the BNP, made the announcement through a press release.
Bangladesh has been witnessing five-day-long general strike in each week of February alongside the non-stop blockade of roads, rail and waterways.
Friday and Saturday are weekend in Bangladesh.
The BNP called the blockade demanding a fresh national election on January 5, the first anniversary of 10th general election in Bangladesh.
