Dhaka, Bangladesh (BBN)-The BNP-led 20-party alliance has extended its ongoing general strike till 6:00am Friday in Bangladesh.
The fresh political programme was announced when the country has been experiencing a 72-hour shutdown since 6:00am March 1.
The strike was extended Tuesday afternoon demanding a fresh general election and immediate and unconditional release of party leaders and activists.
Salahuddin Ahmed, the joint secretary general of the BNP, made the announcement through a press release.
Bangladesh has been witnessing five-day-long general strike since the beginning of February alongside the non-stop blockade of roads, rail and waterways.
Friday and Saturday are weekend in Bangladesh.
The BNP called the blockade demanding a fresh national election on January 5, the first anniversary of 10th general election in Bangladesh.
