Bangladesh’s apex trade body urges China to liberalize visa process

Dhaka, Bangladesh (BBN)- The Federation of Bangladesh Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FBCCI) has requested China to further liberalize the visa processing for businesspeople of the country.

The proposal was placed when the FBCCI leaders had a meeting with a Chinese business delegation here in the city on Tuesday. The 12-member Chinese Economy and Trade delegation from Sichuan provincial government, led by Huang Xiaoxiang, vice-governor of Sichuan, attended the meeting.

Abul Kashem Ahmed, the first vice-president of FBCCI, presided over the meeting attended by the directors, the secretary-general and the secretary of FBCCI and representatives of different industrial sectors.

Terming China one of the valuable development partners of Bangladesh, Abul Kashem Ahmed recalled the friendly relationship with the country. He urged the delegation to further liberalize the visa processing for the business community of Bangladesh.

Huang Xiaoxiang said Sichuan is very interested to develop trade relations with Bangladesh. “In spite of global financial crisis, China enjoys possibility of export and the growth rate of the country is satisfactory,” he said.

He stressed the need for direct air-link between Dhaka and Chengdu, the capital of Sichuan province, to further enhance the scope for bilateral trade.

Huang Xiaoxiang invited the FBCCI leaders to join the upcoming 11th Western China International Fair to be held October 12-20 in Sichuan.
