Munshiganj, Bangladesh (BBN)-The death toll in Bangladesh’s launch capsize reached to 32 as 10 more bodies were found floating in Padma River Thursday.
Meanwhile, the salvage ship is yet to locate the sunken launch, three days after the tragedy took place.
So far, 138 people remained missing and it is believed that most of them are trapped inside the drawn water vessel, media reports said.
The launch, MV Pinak-6, carrying over 200 passengers capsized in the middle of the river in Munshiganj, a central district of Bangladesh, Monday morning.
Capsize is the result of strong current following stormy weather, locals said.
Earlier, 22 bodies were recovered from different areas of the rivers including Shariatpur, Chandpur, Barisal and Bhola districts, local officials said.
The latest recovery was made from Mawa terminal of Munshiganj, Shariatpur, Chandpur and Bhola, they added.
Ferry accidents are common in Bangladesh due to poor safety standards for the vessels, which are often overloaded.
