Prime minister asks home ministry to boost Khaleda's security

Dhaka, Bangladesh (BBN)- Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has asked the home ministry to boost security measures for Opposition Leader and BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia.

The directive came at a meeting of the Awami League Central Working Committee (ALCWC), highest decision making body of the ruling party, held in the capital, Dhaka on Saturday with the prime minister in the chair.

At the meeting, the prime minister also directed Home Minister Sahara Khatun to go tough on extortionists, tender manipulators, and those who are deteriorating law and order of the country, AL General Secretary and LGRD Minister Seyd Ashraful Islam told reporters after the meeting.

The political and socio-economic situation of the country also came to discussion.

The meeting decided that central AL leaders would start their planned district tour programs next month.
