Last updated: September 1, 2014

Dhaka, Bangladesh (BBN) - Prime Minister of Japan Shinzo Abe will pay an official visit to Bangladesh on September 06-07 at the invitation of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.

This visit is taking place after fourteen years since the then Prime Minister Yoshiro Mori of Japan visited Bangladesh in the year 2000, a foreign ministry statement said in Dhaka on Monday.

During the visit, Japanese Prime Minister would hold official talks with Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and would call on President Md. Abdul Hamid, amongst other programmes.

In addition, Japanese Prime Minister will address the Bangladesh-Japan Economic Forum jointly organized by Bangladesh Board of Investment (BOI), Federation of Bangladesh Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FBCCI), and Japan External Trade Organization (JETRO) to promote trade between Bangladesh and Japan and attract Japanese investment in Bangladesh.

This is the return visit by Prime Minister Shinzo Abe in quick succession of Hon’ble Prime Minister’s official visit to Japan in May 2014.

It is evident from the outcome of Hon’ble Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina’s visit to Japan that Japan is very keen in expanding and deepening ‘Comprehensive Partnership’ in almost all areas of our bilateral, economic, social and cultural relations.
