Jamaat calls hartal in Bangladesh for Thursday, Sunday

Dhaka, Bangladesh (BBN)-Jamaat-e-Islami has called a total of 48-hour countrywide hartal in protest of party's top leader Delawar Hossain Sayedee’s imprisonment until death.
The hartal will continue from 6:00am Thursday to 6:00am Friday and 6:00am Sunday to 6:00am Monday, said a statement of Jamaat's acting Ameer Mokbul Ahmed on Wednesday, immediately after the verdict was pronounced.
The Supreme Court on Wednesday commuted Sayedee’s death sentence to imprisonment till death for his crimes against humanity committed during the country’s Liberation War in 1971.
The party also declared to offer a special prayer on Friday and to stage an agitation programme on Saturday.
